The PM's Bay City depot, as it appeared around 1920.
The PM built this impressive brick structure in 1904. It served the PM and the C&O's passengers until passenger service to Bay City was discontinued in 1949.
Between 1949 and 1969, the depot was used to house a variety of businesses, including a bus depot. From 1969 until 2003, the building sat vacant.
Beginning in 2003, the Great Lakes Center Foundation undertook a massive effort to raise funds, design and complete the restoration of the building. When the thorough restoration was completed in mid-2008 (including recreating the long-missing tower), the depot began a new life as the Pere Marquette Depot Bay City serving as a visitors' bureau and community center.
